Operations Configuration And General Configuration In Tally

Operations Configuration: Configuration has to be done before creating an starting work on the company. Click F12: Configure Button or press F12, which will bring up the operations configuration menu:

General: Go to Gateway of Tally->F12: Configure->General

The Configuration settings of Countries Details, Style of Name, Style of Dates and Configuration of Numbers are self-explanatory.

General: As the Name itself suggest. You get a screen for General Configuration on selecting it.

A) Country Details: Use Accounting Terminology of Accounting Terminology deffers in Asia and Europe. The main difference is the local tax levied on transfer of goods is VAT in Europe, Sales Tax in Asia & America. If you are using Tally in any part of Europe, the first thing you should do is to select Britain/Europe before creation of new company. For a company in Asia or America, select India/Asia. On selecting Britain/Europe, VAT Reg, Number would appear in place of Local Sales Tax number and inter-state sales tax number in the Company Creation screen. Similarly in Party ledger you would be promoted to enter VAT Regn, instead of S T Regn. No.

B) Style Of Names: Default Appearance of Name in Reports: Select the detail that would appear by default at Name field at Reports. You get many options (like Name, Alias etc.) to select from pop-up.

C) Style Of Dates: Style of Short Date: You can select the Short Date format from 3 options, namely Indian (dd-mm-yy) American (mm-dd-yy) and Japanese (yy-mm-dd). Select as applicable for you. Separator of Use in Short Date. The default Short Date separator is a hyphen [-], e.g., 1-4-2001.

You can specify any other separator, e.g., a dot [.] to get Date like 1.4.2001.

D) Configuration of Numbers: Decimal character to use default is a dot (.) you may other characters as separator for large amount, enter it here. For example enter a dot [.] to get Date like figure 99.999.99. Put sign before Currency /Unit Symbols: This option controls how signed number would be displayed. The default setting is No which displays negative 100 Pcs as 9100 Pcs, negative amount 100.00 as (100.00). If you set this option as Yes you will see (-) 100.00. Show numbers in Millions, say Yes (eg. 99.999.999.99), to do in lakhs (eg. 9.99.99.999.99), say No.

E) Graphs In Monthly Reports: Show Monthly Reports with Graphics: To get Graphs in Monthly reports, Say Yes.
